Black Diamond Gallery: BOROUGH5
NYC ARTISTS COME TOGETHER TO PORTRAY THE MANY FACES OF NEW YORK WITH BOROUGH5 GROUP EXHIBITION
New York City artists come together to celebrate the diversity of New York City residents in BOROUGH5, a group exhibition hosted by Black Diamond Gallery in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Featuring well known artists including John Ahearn, Devon Rodriguez, Marcel Daldoce, Chantal Heijnen and Raul Barquet, BOROUGH5 will display the various faces of New York through the eyes of selected artists from the neighborhoods each artist calls home.
With the opening reception set for July 13, the show is curated by guest curator Dan Alvarado, who expressed the importance of celebrating the city residents while connecting all 5 boroughs in one gallery space. “This city has always welcomed everyone from everywhere to make it their home. Despite its many iconic landmarks, New York would not be New York without the people who live here. For this show, I wanted to showcase the various communities through the works of local city artists that all have deep connections to Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island.”
Including works of various mediums (painting, sculpture, photography and collage), BOROUGH5 narrates a story of diversity within NYC neighborhoods through the eyes of the artists themselves. The portraits that will be displayed at Black Diamond Gallery are both literal and metaphorical, of past and present, and a celebration of the various New Yorkers within this city today.
BOROUGH5 will be on display from July 13 - August 3rd.
The art reception will occur on July 13 from 7 pm - 9 pm.
Black Diamond Gallery is located at 332 Hooper Street, Brooklyn, New York.
